Module 1

Know the enemy

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”

Ephesians 6:12

Read: Ephesians 6:12 · 1 Peter 5:8–9 · John 10:10

There is a real enemy, and he is not a cartoon. He is a liar, an accuser, a thief, and a roaring lion. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Ignoring him does not make him go away. It makes you an easy target.

But do not be impressed by him either. He is a created being, already defeated at the cross, and he cannot touch anyone hidden in Christ without permission. Be sober. Be vigilant. Resist. That is all Scripture asks.

Wrestle with it

  • Have you been living as though there is no enemy, or as though he is bigger than he is?
  • Where have you been fighting flesh and blood instead of the real enemy?

The charge

Name the actual battle you are in today. Then pray Ephesians 6:12 over it.

02

Module 2

Know your authority

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Luke 10:19

Read: Luke 10:17–20 · Colossians 2:13–15 · James 4:7–8

Christ spoiled principalities and powers and made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in the cross. The war is won. What is left is a defeated enemy who fights dirty because he has nothing else.

You resist him from a position of authority, not anxiety. Submit to God first. Then resist. And the promise is that he will flee. Not might. Will.

Wrestle with it

  • Do you pray like someone under authority and with authority, or like someone begging?
  • What have you been submitting to that is not God?

The charge

Submit to God in the area you have been holding back. Then resist the enemy there, out loud.

03

Module 3

Strongholds

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:5

Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3–6 · Romans 12:1–2

A stronghold is a lie you have believed so long that it has walls. “I will always be like this.” “God cannot use me.” “This is just who I am.” The enemy builds them slowly and defends them hard.

The weapons that pull them down are not carnal. Not more effort. The Word, prayer, confession, and brothers and sisters who speak truth to you. Take every thought captive. Every one. Check it against what God has said.

Wrestle with it

  • What lie has had walls around it in your mind for years?
  • What does God’s Word say about that exact thing?

The charge

Write the stronghold on one side of a card and the Scripture that answers it on the other. Read the answer every time the lie speaks.

Module 4

Fasting and prayer

“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Matthew 17:21

Read: Matthew 17:14–21 · Isaiah 58:6–9 · Daniel 10:1–14

Some battles do not move without fasting. Jesus said so. Fasting is not a hunger strike against God. It is telling your body that it is not in charge and telling God that you want Him more than you want lunch.

Daniel fasted three weeks and heaven moved. Isaiah says the fast God chooses looses the bands of wickedness and breaks every yoke. If you are stuck, fast.

Wrestle with it

  • What battle in your life has not moved with ordinary prayer?
  • When did you last fast? What stopped you?

The charge

Fast one meal this week. Give the time to prayer over the battle that will not move.

05

Module 5

Stand

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Ephesians 6:13

Read: Ephesians 6:13–18 · Revelation 12:10–11 · 2 Chronicles 20:15–22

Having done all, stand. Not win, not advance, not conquer. Stand. Sometimes the whole victory is that you were still on your feet when the evil day passed. The armour is for standing.

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. That is your weapon set: what Christ did, and what you can say He did for you. Jehoshaphat sent the singers out ahead of the army and God fought the battle. Praise is warfare. Stand and sing.

Wrestle with it

  • What is your testimony? Can you say it in two minutes?
  • What evil day are you in right now, and what does standing look like?

The charge

Write your testimony in five sentences. Say it to one person this week.
