Study the Bible · Chase one word all the way down the hole

Follow the Rabbit

Scripture explains Scripture. When a word or phrase jumps off the page, that is a rabbit. Chase it. Search where else the Bible uses it and follow the trail from verse to verse until you can see what the whole Bible says about it. You will land in places you never would have gone on your own, and that is where the treasure is.

    The passage

    Where are you studying today?

A verse, a few verses, or a chapter. Read it right here before you write anything.

  2. 02

    The rabbit

What word or phrase grabbed you?

One word is best. “Refuge.” “Overcome.” “Fear not.” “Rest.”

  3. 03

    The trail

Search the Bible for it and follow it.

Add each verse the Spirit stops you at. Read each one in its chapter. Let one verse lead to the next word, and the next.

  4. 04

    Where it led

Now that you have seen it in five or ten places, what does the whole Bible say about it?

Two or three sentences. What is God’s mind on this word?

  5. 05

    What I do with it

    One thing this changes.

A promise to stand on, or a command to keep, this week.

  6. 06

    Prayer

Pray the passage back to God.

Thank Him for what it showed you. Confess where it caught you. Ask for the strength to do it.
