Study the Bible · Guided methods
Dig in.
Eight ways to study a passage, a word, a person, or a whole book. Each one is a guided worksheet: it walks you through the steps, saves what you write on this device, and prints clean. Start with S.O.A.P. if you have never done this before.
Scripture · Observation · Application · Prayer · 15 min
S.O.A.P.
The simplest method there is, and the one most people should start with. Four steps, one page, fifteen minutes. Read the passage, write what you see, decide what you will do, pray it back.

Follow the Rabbit
Scripture explains Scripture. When a word or phrase jumps off the page, that is a rabbit. Chase it. Search where else the Bible uses it and follow the trail from verse to verse until you can see what the whole Bible says about it.

Observe · Interpret · Apply
Inductive study means you gather the facts before you draw a conclusion, the way a scout reports terrain before the commander plans. Most misreadings come from interpreting first and observing never.

Verse Map
Take a single verse and map it: the words that carry the weight, where else Scripture uses them, and what the verse says when you put it in your own words. This is how a verse stops being a slogan and becomes yours.

Topical Recon
Fear. Anger. Money. Marriage. Lust. Forgiveness. When one subject is beating you, find out God’s whole mind on it, not one verse. Gather every passage you can, read them in context, and write down what they say together.

Character Study
The Bible is full of real people who did real things, good and bad, and God did not edit their failures out. David, Peter, Ruth, Elijah, Paul. Study one and you study yourself: their strengths, their falls, and what God did with both.
Open →07Take in a whole book from the high ground · 60 min
Book Recon
Before you fight through a book verse by verse, survey it from above. Read the whole thing in one or two sittings, fast, like a letter that just arrived. Then answer the recon questions: who wrote it, to whom, why, and how it is laid out.

Pray the Text
The oldest way to study the Bible is to pray it. Take a passage, a Psalm is a good place to start, and turn each line into praise, confession, request, and surrender. You are not studying about God. You are talking to Him with His own words.
